What do we do?

At the Sexual Health Clinic, we work to educate and promote sexual health that contributes to improving the quality of life of our participants. We provide guidance and counseling to assess the needs of each participant regarding their sexual practices.

We provide screening, diagnosis, and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV prevention through pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

Preventive Materials

We offer free preventive supplies, including male and female condoms and lubricants, to ensure that every participant can fully enjoy their sexuality. We provide guidance on the proper use of condoms and other preventive supplies to ensure that, in addition to pleasure, participants can prevent STIs, HIV, and unplanned pregnancies.

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)

What is PrEP?

The term “prophylaxis” refers to the prevention or control of the transmission of an infection or disease; and “pre” means prior to or before. Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medication used by people at risk of contracting HIV through unprotected sex or injection drug use to prevent HIV.

What are the side effects of PrEP?

Initially, some people experience side effects such as an upset stomach, loss of appetite, or a headache. These symptoms are usually mild and go away within the first month of treatment.

How does PrEP work?

When used consistently, PrEP reduces the risk of contracting the virus by up to 99%. People who use PrEP must commit to taking the medication consistently and seeing their doctor regularly for follow-up visits. PrEP does not prevent other sexually transmitted infections, so it is recommended to use condoms or other prevention methods consistently during every sexual encounter.

How much does PrEP cost?

Currently, most health insurance plans cover PrEP; however, if you don’t have health insurance, or if your plan doesn’t cover it, there are patient assistance programs that can help you. Eligibility may vary depending on each person’s individual circumstances and is subject to certain requirements and restrictions.
