Centro Ararat, a leader in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and clinical management of HIV and STIs in Puerto Rico, serves as a professional training center where students and healthcare professionals can acquire the skills and competencies needed to excel in their respective fields.

Student Clinical Rotations

Internships—also known as practical training or field placements—are opportunities for students enrolled in a program at an accredited university to work in a professional setting, where they can apply what they have learned to real-world situations and assess their academic performance in a workplace context.

Students from the following programs may complete rotations at CA's facilities:

  • Medicine
  • Nursing
  • Pharmacy
  • Speech Pathology
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Public Health Education
  • General Public Health
  • Social Work
  • Business Administration: Finance and Accounting

Requirements:

  • Establish or maintain a collaborative agreement between the student's home university and academic program and Centro Ararat.
  • Mandatory liability endorsement in the name of Centro Ararat, Inc.
  • Submission of the following documents:
    • Summary
    • Health Certificate
    • Certificate of Criminal History
    • Proof of COVID-19 and hepatitis B vaccination

HIV Mentorship

Designed for licensed healthcare professionals interested in learning about best practices in clinical care and comprehensive health services for people living with HIV.

Agencies or organizations that wish to train their staff in the clinical management of people living with HIV may request training in a setting with an interdisciplinary team on specific topics, such as: early intervention, rapid initiation of treatment, adherence, referral and re-referral to medical care, and drug interactions, among others. 

Healthcare professionals who are eligible to apply for a preceptorship:

  • Physicians, including those interested in becoming certified as HIV-treating physicians in Puerto Rico.
  • Medical Assistants
  • Pharmacists
  • Nurses
  • Case Managers
  • HIV Patient Navigators

Requirements:

  • Validity of your license and professional association membership to practice your profession.
  • Be available for at least 8 hours to complete the HIV preceptorship at CA's clinical facilities.
  • Submit general documents, such as: proof of licensure, criminal record, health certificate, and others.
