Centro Ararat World AIDS Day with a new platform

By Wanda I. Orengo Pérez

This portal will be a space where healthcare professionals can share stories that help expand the conversation about HIV issues on our island and highlight important news about partnerships and the integration of efforts at the local level. It will also delve into data and stories to raise awareness about the social determinants in our country and how they influence the daily lives and health of individuals and their communities.

This effort was joined by the support of the Puerto Rico Department of Health, the Association of HIV Treating Physicians, the San Juan Metropolitan Eligible Area (EMA-SJ), among other organizations.

Although the portal focuses on providing valuable tools and content for health professionals, academics, and community organizations, it has a section recommending that citizens request rapid HIV tests and protective barriers to be sent to their homes. They can also schedule an appointment for PrEP (medication to prevent HIV) counseling.

This page will be divided into sections presenting statistical data, how HIV is transmitted, how HIV treatment works, types of tests, how to prevent transmission, and even an interactive map with service locations, among other relevant information.

We invite you to visit LuchaVihsible.org and be part of its development. You can also find it on Facebook and Instagram under luchavihsible. Join #luchavihsible.
